Wait a second. Most of those topics were mainly dealing with side ponytail -> ponytail. There were objections for side ponytail but I see little objection to high ponytail.
More than 50% of high ponytail is already tagged ponytail. If you believe that's a problem, then you should be willing to help detag these posts. Otherwise it should be implicated.

There were objections to that as well in the oldest topic: See forum #42605 and forum #42606.
Another issue with high_ponytail is it's relationship with the other ponytail tags, as in it's own wiki it states "Can be combined with other ponytail styles." Given this, it would indicate that the high_ponytail tag is a modifier to all the various ponytail styles, and not just a subtype of the standard back ponytail. As such, a character like Mix_(aquarion) (post #1102891) would qualify for both the side_tail and high_ponytail.
topic #4101 had one person for, two against (moreso against side ponytail, it seems to me). The topic was then dropped. I hardly consider that to be the ironclad precedent other topics were treating it as.
High ponytail is commonly used with ponytail: high_ponytail ponytail solo. It's only used a handful of times with side ponytail: high_ponytail side_ponytail solo. This indicates taggers consider it a subset of ponytail, not a modifier of other ponytail styles. How people actually use a tag is more important than how a wiki written five years ago claims it should be used.
If tagging these posts as ponytail really is a problem, then we should detag ponytail instead. I somehow doubt anyone feels strongly enough to do that, hence my vote for the implication.
