BUR #7481 has been rejected.
create implication rice_spoon -> spoon
Kinda iffy on that one as it doesn't look like your regular spoon (in western kitchens at least, not sure about asian and other cultures), so I'm not sure if you'd actually call these a spoon.
Short: It looks quite distinct.
The more correct term is rice paddle, so it shouldn't really be implicated as a spoon. It doesn't look or work like a spoon either. I don't think when people search for rice spoon, they'll be thinking about actual spoons.
I would expect a rice spoon to be called spoon. Paddle sounds like it doesn't have any curved surface to hold food, like a peel_(tool).

It's just flatter, but not as flat as, say, a spatula.
FYI, holding_spoon rice_spoon. If we call it rice paddle people will start tagging holding paddle on it.
I agree with EB, let's do like Wikipedia does and call it with its actual name.

While we're in theme, an utility alias since we also have sake bottle for glass bottles (don't see much utility in distinguish sake bottle from wine bottle but that's for another day and topic).

It's not a particularly big distinction, but the main visual one in my mind tends to be the stylized kanji writing on the label.

There's a slight issue with other East Asian rice paddles (and some South East Asian ones) also looking the same but are not called "shamoji". Chinese and Korean ones, mainly.
Though personally voting yes on this one anyway because most of our examples are Japanese.

It also doesn't matter what they're called elsewhere since that's no visual component.
But yes, Japanese names still take precedent on an anime-focused imageboard.

However, I disagree that all terms used should be changed to Japanese style. Tokkuri is something that can only be seen in Japanese culture, so I agree to alias it like that, but rice_spoon is not.

The rule is that tags for inherently Japanese things should be in Japanese, while tags for ordinary things should be in English. This means tags like serafuku or 4koma or dakimakura are fine, but tags like mizugi or megane or pantsu are not.
