Dangle/Drop Earrings

These two tags have been around for a while and rarely get gardened and rarely does anyone know the difference between the two. In fact, a few hundred images are tagged with both despite only one style being present in the image.

Frieren is a major culprit for the downfall of both tags (her two official art images embedded in her wiki are either tag, post #7397153 and post #7397159), but this issue existed before her. People aren't gardening it and such a minor detail that gets glossed over by official art is not one that I am entirely convinced is necessary to keep.

An alternative just in case you like one name over the other.

I think they are visually different enough to warrant keeping the tags separate. We could have them separated by the length of the chain rather than whether the chain exists at all. The dangle earring in the Pinterest image in the wikis has a single chain link attached. If we allow very small lengths like this to apply to dangle earrings, then we can tag both of the above examples with dangle earrings. Having a couple more pixels in between for post #7397153 compared to post #7397159 is not a meaningful enough difference to justify tagging them as drop earrings in my opinion. A much better example is post #7475012, which clearly has a chain in between and would not be mistaken for dangle earrings by those that understand the difference.

Aye, there's the main issue. I simply don't think the visual difference is major enough to warrant two tags that are constantly cross-tagged and double tagged. Frieren isn't the only character with this issue. The Xenoblade girls, Pyrha and Mythra, are just as poorly tagged. Apparently post #6100167 is dangle while post #7468616 is drop.

It would be simpler if they were combined.

Yes, I noticed. I specifically searched for solo and 1girl images of those two characters when trying to garden them. And there were a few where I wasn't sure which tag would fit best. But I think part of the reasons for mistags is because the existing mistags misleads other users. Since these posts are rarely gardened, I think we should at least attempt to garden the obvious cases and see if the situation improves before resorting to merging them.

For example, the earrings in both of your examples are clearly drop earrings, but if that first post remains tagged with dangle earrings, it will understandably confuse other users and perpetuate the problem.
