Huh. You know, this might actually make "Touka" an interesting character. Male shonen heroes with Touma's personality are a dime a dozen, females not so much. Doesn't solve the problem of her main ability being designed to make other peoples' powers less awesome, though.

If his ability is THAT much of a problem, why don't the people who want him dead just shoot him with an unagumented sniper rifle?

Nah, this is the best design for a genderswapped version I've seen thus far. It gives her the "big sister" look that the male counterpart has a penchant to.

I think Comartemis meant it was a problem from a storytelling point of view (as in he/she was implying its a boring power), not a practical point of view (well, the POV of "Touka's" enemies anyway). Personally, I like Touma/Touka's power. Imagine Breaker is basically the power to drag your god-like opponent down to your level for a moment or two by punching them in the face. That's just lulzy!
It helps that Touma's enemies are really smart and tend to figure out his weaknesses really fast so he has to be clever or take a ton of damage to get anywhere, which is what makes it harder to write a female Touma. It can be awkward to write a female lead who is constantly being beaten badly enough to require hospitalization, especially since most of "Touka's" gender-swapped enemies are now guys. Unfortunate implications much? Claymore gets away with it because most of the enemies are either inhuman-looking monsters or other females.
Also makes the "harem" of nearly 10,000 Misaka clones (Misaka Otouto?) much, much creepier. In fact, a lot of the characters whose behavior was considered tolerable only because they were female now become a lot creepier due to double standards or unfortunate implications. Makes Ursula Acquinas' intro and the Queen of Adriatic Sea Arc way weirder too. Replace the Nuns with Choir/Alter Boys, maybe? Doesn't feel right...
Big sister Accelerator protecting a shouta Last Order is hilarious though...
Incidentally, am I the only one who thinks it'd be hilarious if Imagine Breaker was in Touka's right foot instead of her hand? Or maybe I just have an easier time imagining a girl with no martial arts training or super-strength (which Touma has neither of) kicking fully grown men unconcious rather than punching them out.
