touken has a big fanbase for the same reason Kancolle does. Fanservice. Vocaloid is more general towards both sexes while Kancolle and Touken adhere to members of the opposite sex.

Ehh? Is fanservice really the main attraction of kancolle? I personally like the events, the hype and the reaction of people who get abused by the RNG in hard mode really fun :P
I still think Vocaloid has more fans compared to touken, but then again i may be wrong..

Have you seen the damage portraits for Kancolle? Because a lot of them are pretty obviously fanservice. Not to mention the designs of some characters like Shimakaze.
Vocaloid does have more fans than Tourabu, but that's because it's been around for a lot longer. Tourabu has gained a lot of popularity in the eight months since it's been released. In fact, it got so popular that a doujinshi event was announced two months after it was launched.
You're only seeing from a game's perspective if you're saying that. Kancolle has already ready reach "Touhou" status in that plenty of people are buying merchandise worth 1000s of $$$ despite never playing the game and plan not to ever play it.
People are buying doujins, the official wedding rings, figurines and all that and are NEVER going to touch the game ever. Same for Touhou. Touken is also heading down that line too (as was also Idolmaster at the height of their popularity).
And really, I actually don't blame the people for who never have any plans to play Kancolle(vs Touhou). Kancolle is an RNG game where you control almost nothing of it. That kind of gameplay(if you can call it gameplay) almost makes it a facebooky type of game that many people want nothing to do with.
The damage portrait is really minor thing in the bigger picture.
Like in Touhou, it's the character design itself (doesn't have to be fetish points) and fun fanon personality that brings a lot of peoples. Yeah, despite the inquisitors crying about how the fanon personality is nothing like what god creator intended them to be.
Touken should be mirror side of KanColle though. One targeted to male, the other to female. Vocaloid as the third kingdom.
I believe this is a comment on the doujin output at Comiket 88. Quite likely the floor's largely divided between these three groups with quite the competition =3
Personally a story where this three series meet together, without the silly "who's better?!" drama, would be nice. Like, say, one where a Kanmusu and a Touken Danshi suddenly find themselves in Gensoukyou like what happened to Buront-san, and meet its denizens while finding out why they got there and how to get back. Considering the generally tragic backstory the Kanmusu and Touken Danshi would have, and how Gensoukyou is sometimes depicted as a land where the forgotten come to rest, it could be a touching tale, especially if it's done by a good storyteller (like Gensoukoumuten) =3
And I'm surprised no one has commented on this "Very well. Then we shall have War" quote and its origins =3
