Or you can said she really can protect the place. Because if she not in there something trouble will happen.

She doesn't have to be at the shrine that needs protection. She just has to protect A shrine.

You can't really argue that she isn't doing a good job though, considering that it is Gensokyo, and the odds of an incident not happening at a shrine she was located at is very low. Imo, it's better to assume there were incidents that we never heard of...because she took care of them.

Aunn said she was "protecting the shrine from simple enemies", not "preventing incidents". Simple enemy to me screams "random stage fodder fairy", not "incident-causing powerhouse". She is also described as weak and losing almost every fight.

Still, i like to think her ability to locate divinity makes her stronger depending on how much "godly essence" there is around, so she's weak because the Hakurei shrine lacks any god-like presence, while at the Moriya shrine she would become decently powerful.

So apparently she was a statue before HSiFS happened, much like Narumi. Can't really do anything like that I suppose.

...wait a minute - the location of the statue she was possessing during those incidents didn't have any troubles at all...(perhaps there's some truth to this comic)
