Japanese holiday, the day ya throw beans to kick out the onis (Suika) and bring in the good luck. Though personally I don't see any good in kicking out poor Suika, especially when she always brings the drinks for everyone!

Aside from the whole vampire=blood-sucking oni translation, it was mentioned in Patchouli's "Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red" article that Remilia specifically couldn't touch the beans as they burned her.
