Actually you need a certain level of ditz to fall for a silly speech like that and then to ignore the fact that you're under servitude by force (isn't that something like slavery?).

Actually, Meiling could have just refused (though she would risk being killed in that case) or only pretend to accept and flee later. The fact of the matter is, Remilia brought up a good point. People living there doesn't change a damn thing aside from the scenery (and you could argue the manison improves it). Hell, her master never even had a gravestone so its not like they desecrated his corpse/gravesite or anything.
Another good point that was overlooked is that the land isn't Meiling's. She doesn't own it, neither legally or even unofficially/in name only. Hell, she doesn't even live there (or at least she has no set home there, not even a tent). She has no right to decide who can and can't live there, or at least no more right than any other youkai who claims some area as his/her terriotry (ie - her only "right" is force of arms, which Remilia clearly outclasses her in). So, really, in terms of youkai morality, Remilia is perfectly within her "rights" to establish her home there.

Agreed and agreeable at the core and ramification of this story. Remilia and the whole Scarlet Mansion also both stand on : "a more Rightful Ethic plus Morality (Youkai-Grade) ; "The Just Benefit of Doubt";"Mostly-Self-Defense"; "No Ill-Will"; "a degree of Holding-Back and Having to Calm Down a mostly-Violent Assailant";" in a Majorly New and Initial Stage of settling down in a mostly-Unknown and Smaller Community,Land,Environment": "Conceding a more than decent degree of Free-Will and Decision"; "Being honest and straightforward about a sudden confrontation " ...it has to be placed plus balanced more on the Youkai (Inhuman)'s spectrum extent though....

Kind and friendly please, I helpfully + hopefully advice (among others even if not in written or directly written-to post") to ... read again, reflect, elaborate, along with any good or better etc. more than this 1,especially via a better deep , insightful , objective , englighting Light . ....not just this whole page, speech, circumstance are to be counted, but all the Examplary Comic as a whole at least about ts Exemplary Important Parts, but especially the highlight is about : the closer-to ,during,post-Ending AND the Beginning-to-after Beginning or the whole story with All such Implications,Consequences,Tie-ins-outs-in-betweens on this Pool: Touhou - The Place where I Live (shino (ponjiyuusu)) . Thank you and Thanks. EDIT : It is a more or less, but more in this scenario, sort-of dispute settlement and stimulating, engaging, developing interaction and bond.
Please fix your space bar, and tone down the use of symbols.
Thank you for your advice and correction . I have tried polished my previous comment.
From this moment forth, you are the gatekeeper of this Scarlet Devil Mansion. And you shall become the protector of this land, and live alongside with it.
