The countdown is over by now. As far as I can see there are some random Touhou flashs going on.
The project was a huge collaborative Touhou-themed UNIQLOCK (http://www.uniqlo.jp/uniqlock/) parody. It's a clock that you can have as a widget on a site, a screensaver, or just open in a browser, that is constantly changing depending on the time. I'm not sure there ever was a "countdown" per say, unless it was in preparation for the launch...?
Anyway, the pixiv description says that this series of pictures is one of the sets that plays in the clock (which would make sense, as each segment is 5 seconds long.)
