Japanese has no "v" sound, so the Japanese have problems pronouncing it... was how it used to be, but younger people can usually pronounce it without any problems these days. (Common loanwords with v's already assimilated into b's don't count.)

Au contraire. My dad'd have been old enough to remember Maruzen and TTG in their heyday and he can pronounce ValvrapeValvrave as well as I can. (He thought that at least the first season was a hilarious trainwreck by the way)
Probably helps that he spent some time in the States... :p
