Probably a safe guess that "shi-" means death, or at least a pun on death.

According to the artist's comment on CraftifyX, it's meant to be read as a homonym of ๆญปใฎๆ—— (another phrase for "death flag") while otherwise being a normal Japanese surname.

So what happens in the ending?

She warms herself up with the matches, and she feels warmer and warmer, until she falls asleep in the heat.
She dies in the cold. It isn't clear if the cold made her hallucinate, or if it was the magnesium from the matches.

This is why in every H-game (gacha game) where she gets involve, she gets a good ending. (Sex optional)

"I donโ€™t care for that story, either.โ€

That took me a moment to catch up to. โ€œThe one about the Little Match Girl?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ That is about as cross as Iโ€™ve ever heard the Power sound, and I canโ€™t say I cared for it. I canโ€™t imagine thereโ€™s anyone would want any Power mad at them, but especially not that One. โ€œThat is a story that humans tell each other to excuse themselves from helping their own kind. As if my kindness to the dead absolves them of duty to the living. As if it is better for a child to die than to live.โ€

โ€œWell, I donโ€™t like it either,โ€ I admitted. โ€œI want to smack every single person who walked past that poor child and I donโ€™t mind saying it.โ€

โ€œSo,โ€ the Power said darkly, and I shivered, โ€œdo I.โ€
