TBH, units are not specified. Unexpected and unpleasant things can happen when you just assume units near some number, like Gimli Glider (the fueler reported value in lbs but crew thought in was in kg) or Mars Climate Orbiter crash (one subsystem prodused calculation results in pound-force seconds while the other expected them in Newton-seconds).

Out of curiosity, I checked what 96 means in different temperature scales (other than C or F):

  • 96 Rankine = -220ยฐC = -363ยฐF
  • 96 Kelvin = -177ยฐC = -287ยฐF
  • 96 Leiden = -157ยฐC = -251ยฐF
  • 96 Delisle = 36ยฐC = 97ยฐF
  • 96 Reaumur = 120ยฐC = 248ยฐF
  • 96 Roemer = 168ยฐC = 335ยฐF
  • 96 Newton = 291ยฐC = 555ยฐF (melting point of lead)
  • 96 Wedgewood = 7493ยฐC = 13519ยฐF (pretty hot, huh)
