I'm translating this rn (well, I partially translated this series before, and now I'm brushing up the ones I've already done and trying to continue to get the whole series done as well,) and... GIRLLL does ANYONE know what that fucking character up there is on the SFX in the middle of the second panel that looks like a 2 or a backwards S with two tick marks??? (I know that the other two characters are ろお...) I thought I was smoking crack and just had somehow never seen that character before, but there's no character that looks like that fml. I put it thru ChatGPT OCR & Google Translate OCR, and ChatGPT thinks it's ご, while Google Translate thinks it's で... I'm inclined to trust GPT over GT because GT always fucks up OCR even on English text, but I am VERY SUSPECT because that bitch up there DOES NOT have two fucking strokes man.

For that translation, I was torn between で (de) and ご (go)... 'Dero' means absolutely fuck all as far as I'm aware, can't find it on the SFX wiki, etc, but で LOOKS like the character in the comic more. 'Goro' is really common 'to roll', and it makes sense in context (like, his head is rolling forwards on his neck, you know,) but ご has two motherfucking strokes where で has just the one, and that damned character on the comic does not have any breaks in the damn line...

Basically: If you are better at reading than I am, feel free to change it. And also, fuck my stupid baka life, I hate reading handwriting in other alphabets, they NEVER look like how it's actually supposed to be written

Probably a safe guess that "shi-" means death, or at least a pun on death.

According to the artist's comment on CraftifyX, it's meant to be read as a homonym of 死の旗 (another phrase for "death flag") while otherwise being a normal Japanese surname.

So what happens in the ending?

She warms herself up with the matches, and she feels warmer and warmer, until she falls asleep in the heat.
She dies in the cold. It isn't clear if the cold made her hallucinate, or if it was the magnesium from the matches.

This is why in every H-game (gacha game) where she gets involve, she gets a good ending. (Sex optional)

"I don’t care for that story, either.”

That took me a moment to catch up to. “The one about the Little Match Girl?”

“Yes.” That is about as cross as I’ve ever heard the Power sound, and I can’t say I cared for it. I can’t imagine there’s anyone would want any Power mad at them, but especially not that One. “That is a story that humans tell each other to excuse themselves from helping their own kind. As if my kindness to the dead absolves them of duty to the living. As if it is better for a child to die than to live.”

“Well, I don’t like it either,” I admitted. “I want to smack every single person who walked past that poor child and I don’t mind saying it.”

“So,” the Power said darkly, and I shivered, “do I.”
