Rabbit Girl -> Bunny_Girl alias

BUR #6227 has been rejected.

create alias rabbit_girl -> bunny_girl
create alias rabbit_boy -> bunny_boy

We use bunny ears and bunny_tail but the respective animal_boy/girl tag is rabbit_girl and rabbit_boy, which is inconsistent.
So, bunny should take precedent here.

I don't really think that playboy_bunny should be much of a hindrance here since it also comes up in searches with bunnysuit.

I thought the reason we did this was to avoid people misstaging bunny suits?

Well, we can also use rabbit_ears and rabbit_tail instead.
However, I think with the autocomplete showing the alias from bunnysuit to playboy_bunny, there should be no confusion.

Also, wasn't there some discussion a while back about getting rid of the ear/tail tags altogether? I don't exactly remember what happened to it, but that might affect what action we take.

If there was a discussion, it was about getting rid of the *_boy/*_girl tags.

That was more for the highly-specific KemoFri animal ears and tails. That were generally only used to tag one (occasionally two or three) characters from the same copyright (Kemono Friends, most of the time). And rarely searched for.

It isn't feasible to remove bunny_ears or bunny tails. Fake versions of both (cloth AND mechanical) commonly occur on multiple characters across multiple copyrights. And drawn by multiple different artists. Removing them means we can't tag KC Shimakaze's and AL New Jersey's examples. And forcing them into rabbit_girl would be highly inappropriate too.

Yeah, I didn't go for this because of the sheer tagcount these tags have. Bunny ears is larger that playboy_bunny (probably because of the many fake animal ears, though).

We already usually don't, though, and I don't think we should. See 1000 shimakaze_(kancolle) bunny_ears vs 13k shimakaze_(kancolle) -bunny_ears.

We should use "Rabbit" instead of "Bunny". It just makes sense and is more consistent with other animal tags. We don't use "kitty ears" or "doggo ears" here.

I just want to clarify, that I voted up both of the BURs, because I don't care about which way we go, as long as it's finally consistent.

By the time such a BUR is approved the tag will already be filled with wrong posts again. "bunny girl" is too generic, it can and it does mean both things at the same time, so having it aliased to one or the other is just asking for constant mistags.

We already had this discussion and it already involved a herculean task. Like mongirlfan says bunny to rabbit is akin to puppy to dog, lamb to sheep. Even if 'bunny' is far more common in speech I think it's just better to define it as rabbit to solve this very specific predicament, that's what aliases are for.

We just got rid of the bunny_* tags because they were a clusterfuck of bunny suits and actual rabbit girls/boys, I'd rather have bunny ears/tails to be aliased to rabbit for consistency sake.

If BUR #6227 gets approved, it will just recreate the entire problem topic #17177 solved, which will create another mess with these tags. There are solid reasons why bunny girl is too ambiguous and why bunny_ears/bunny_tail should be changed as well. We need a separation of which tags are related to playboy bunny, and which tags are related to the rabbit animal.

I expect a lot of people won't like this because they're more used to bunny ears than rabbit ears, even though there's no logical reason to prefer bunny ears. But whatever. Now that we have rabbit girl instead of bunny girl, it no longer makes sense to keep calling them bunny ears.

There are a lot of other *bunny* tags that probably should be aliased as well. Bunny costume is probably the one that needs it the most, it still gets confused with Playboy bunny sometimes.
