BUR #8975 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

create alias kirima_sharo -> kirima_syaro

Name 桐間紗路 originates from Kilimanjaro/Kirimanjaro キリマンジャロ and usually written as シャロ (Sharo), but officially is Syaro.

This has nothing to do with the BUR itself, but I find it kind of hilarious that your name is so long that it fucks with the formatting of the forum page. Thought Danbooru had gone through some sort of site change.

The subs used on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE do use "Syaro" for her name. Although CR did originally use Sharo, given that their description of the show still refers to her with that spelling, but episode descriptions and subs use the Syaro spelling at least in later seasons.

AFAIK these are just different romanization schemes of 「シャロ」(kunrei vs hepburn, I believe). Does Danbooru prefer a specific one, or do we use whatever the copyright holder uses?

As someone who watches/reads series in Japanese (and does not see crunchyroll subs, etc.), I have to say that making it ambiguous whether a character named 紗路/シャロ should be searched here using sharo or syaro is kinda annoying. Just my 2 cents/yen though, not heavily invested in either but would like it to be consistent across the site.

See howto:romanize and forum #168056.

Danbooru standards demand “Sharo”, but this might be another case where the much more prevalant differing spelling can be used instead.

Danbooru standards also say "Should any official romanization exist, they take precedence over this standard." I think that's the case here.

Please not that “official” in this case only applies if there’s an English-language license holder. We generally ignore official romanizations by the Japanese creators because they often use the Kunrei system or sometimes just make things up.

In this case every single piece of official art calls her Syaro, so there's not much we can argue about here.

Thanks for clearing that up and linking to the relevant pages!

Maybe we should add this to howto:romanize somewhere under the "Should any official romanization exist, they take precedence over this standard." disclaimer section. It would be nice to have all this info in one place. I'd do it myself but I don't think I can edit those wiki pages.

Sentai Filmworks is the North American license holder for the series of which HIDIVE is a subsidiary of, so if HIDIVE is using "Syaro" than that's the official English-language spelling for it.
