FN SCAR variants, rename and unimply

Posted under Tags

BUR #14108 has been rejected.

remove implication fn_scar -> assault_rifle
create alias fn_scar_16 -> fn_scar-l
create alias fn_scar_17 -> fn_scar-h

We had better use the more common designated name. SCAR-L is a 5.56mm assault rifle. SCAR-H is a 7.62mm NATO assault rifle.
For the same logic, the tag Kalashnikov rifle should not imply assault rifle, PSL Romak and Tabuk are DMRs. Hear me out

I'm afraid this BUR is going to be unmoderated and unchecked by the staff again, just like previous alias military helmet -> combat helmet request.

BUR #15057 has been rejected.

remove implication fn_scar -> assault_rifle
create implication fn_scar -> rifle
create implication fn_scar_16 -> assault_rifle
create implication fn_scar_17 -> battle_rifle

With the two versions of the SCAR platform, one is an Assault Rifle and the other is a Battle Rifle which are usually distinguishable between the magazine and sometimes the barrel length.
Since there are times when their is SCAR silhouette but unable to determine the type, it should imply rifle at all times. When it possible to determine the caliber size either by the 30rd STANAG/P-Mag or the 20rd straight mag, then the rifle would imply it's proper categorization

Wait, what do you think about idea to rename or alias SCAR variants based on the more common L and H designation? Why would you request implication for inaccurate tag that is still being discussed here? Better use the more distinct letters than numbers.

If the SCARs are going to be aliased, it should be the other way around. Since more often than not, they are drawn as the select fire variants, they should be called the FN MK16/FN MK17 as that is what FN labels them as on the website. Only the civilian versions are called the SCAR 16(S)/17(S). The SCAR-L/SCAR-H are informal designations left over from when the weapon was being tested by SOCOM.
