Poll: Date-stamps in Commentary

Posted under General

As stands, the Commentary feature only has fields for the title and description. However, I have been adding the date-stamps of those same sources in the latter field. I see the following values in this practice:
Further "bookkeeping" (many details are tagged in an image file, but the following point may apply between an image and its source page)

  • Discrepancies between upload date/order sources and Danbooru
  • Context for post and/or commentary
  • For posts from single multiple-image sources (primarily Pixiv: "Manga xP"), draws attention to sibling images, especially if not uploaded to Danbooru
  • (Tangentially, providing a date-stamp would carry with it what commentary may exist, even if just "Untitled", removing later uncertainty of whether any commentary existed at a defunct source. Not that I demand a Commentary regardless of significance, just there may be meager value if done.)

In absence of a specific field for this information, do other users also find value in providing this information in the commentary description field?

my opinion on this is date-stamps are not artist's commentary. this type of info is more like metadata. i don't know where to put it better here or just in the comments section.

there's definitely value to this but not to most users, i guess. there's also a recent discussion in github in using dates to make post pages of some blog sites to work how we handle pixiv pages. (see issue #1866)

in case, this indeed have a greater value, maybe we request for additional field so not to clutter the commentary section?

My concern immediately jumps to how date/time would be handled when compiling commentaries from multiple sources for the same image.

Seconded.

To me, the date of when a piece of information was created is always potentially valuable.

That would be nice.

Probably not impossible to solve. Could you explain further what kind of problems you are expecting?
