The wiki for chips uses potatoes as its explanation, so unless danbooru has other types of chips that I'm unaware of then I think they are the same.

The wiki for chips uses potatoes as its explanation, so unless danbooru has other types of chips that I'm unaware of then I think they are the same.
It should be an implication rather than an alias. There are lots of different kinds of chips. Other than potato chips the most common is corn chips, which we do have a few images of even though it isn't tagged yet. And you never know when some anime will have a character whose favorite food is kabocha chips or whatever.

I chose alias because I didn't see any chips other than potato, however your second argument about some anime character having some special chips as favorite food does seem plausible. I guess I'll retract this petition for the time being.
