"hip_lines" or "hip_bones"? Which one should be used?

Posted under Tags

Should we merge the two tags "hip_lines" and "hip_bones" ??

I am unsure whether or not the two tags actually refer to the same thing.
We have an old wiki for "pelvic lines" but non for "hip lines", and the wiki for "hip bones" is really short and doesn't really tell is enough to make a judgement call.

Quick observation:

The hip_lines tag seems to be mostly used on posts featuring skinny but muscular male humanoids: post #1475164
The hip_bones tag seems to be mostly used on posts featuring skinny female humanoids where the hip bones are visibly protruding: post #1034991

As far as I can tell, hip lines generally refers to the crease where one's thigh meets the torso (e.g. post #1456236). It's basically synonymous with the groin tag and should be aliased to the same. Having a separate tag probably made more sense when groin was called mound of venus and was inappropriate for male characters.

The hip bones tag is distinct from the other tags and means the pelvis protrudes at the hips as with collarbone or ribs. A noticeable "bulge" in the skin should be a requirement for this tag. post #1619340 and post #2283471 are good examples of characters with visible hipbones but without "hip lines".

To be serious: Isn't that exactly what the groin tag is for?

Let me be more clear: I think hip bones is distinct enough to stand on its own. There are plenty of images that I would personally tag as either hip bones or groin but not both. As mentioned above, post #1619340 and post #2283471 look like hip bones but not groin. Conversely, post #954694 and post #2369000 clearly show the creases that define groin but lack the bumps that would warrant the hip bones tag. Merging hip bones with any other tag would be a mistake.

As for hip lines, it's redundant to groin and no longer serves any purpose.

Any objections on this one?

Um, about that...

Since requesting that alias, I've been made aware of an adonis belt tag. As far as I can tell, it's used in much the same way as both hip lines and groin as well. It's an actual anatomical term, but so is mound of venus. The wiki descriptions for adonis belt and groin read much the same way, so it would seem that they are identical in function.

Would anyone mind this tag being added to the alias request as well?
