Pictures Won't Load

Posted under Bugs & Features

Recently I was looking at pictures from one of the artist that I like and noticed that there are several pictures that won't load. The thumbnail shows the picture but when I click it to go to the page everything loads except the picture. I thought it was possibly just this artist so I checked other artist/tags and got the same result.

It appears to be doing this to pictures that are about a year old or older. Was there a change made that is causing this to happen?

i'm not OP but i'm coming across this problem too e.g. post #2866269. wish i had more examples but i closed them already thinking it was just something on my end. clicking the link next to the file size goes to raikou2.danbooru.com with a 404 Not Found error (the other posts i closed linked to the same site too).

Seems most pictures hosted on raikou2 is affected, especially older pictures, showing 404. Is the server down or the pictures deleted by accident and permanently lost?

By look of issue on github, it is not permanent, but rather a CDN data replication issue. However, it is unclear if it is possible to determine which posts are broken and how long it takes to replicate images to raikou2

@iamtakingiteasy I checked a random sample of full-size images and it appears that all of the missing ones have ids in the range 2800000..2999999 and the first byte of the md5 (which is also the top level directory on raikou2) is always in the range c1..ff. Most of those 50,000 images (about 90%) are missing, and no others are.

I've had this problem for years.

It's not just images, sometimes pages won't load at all.

See if you can get the results for these instructions -- it's been a while, but for older versions of Windows (like Windows 7 or Windows 8), the TLS stack doesn't sit well with negotiation against https://hijiribe.donmai.us or https://sonohara.donmai.us. Now that Danbooru has switched to Cloudflare, this is no longer an issue; but the missing files problem is an issue.

This is very troubling dozens of Levanders translations of touhou for our group DB Scans are inaccessible.

The book you wanted to read fortunately has been fully scanlated here along many others that can be found in this list of our releases.

I do want to typeset more of these old books and touch up some of the older sloppier ones that are already released. That is made very hard by this new problem, I hope the admins can sort it out soon.

I saw some images with missing image or sample that are in the pool: Missing Images and Missing Samples. So I just put them in those pools as I see them.

Missing Images: pool #84
Missing Samples: pool #279

If anyone want to troubleshoot as to which images or samples are missing, they can check these pools for pattern.

I started to add some images to the Missing Images pool but then realized that the images in that pool were missing both the sample and full size image. The images I wanted to add had the sample image but were missing the full size. So I'm not sure if it's okay to add such images to the Missing Images pool or if they should go into their own pool.

You put it into however many pools it qualifies for.

  • Fullsize: pool #84
  • Samples: pool #279
    • Note: If the image only has a fullsize image (i.e. no resize option given at the top of the image), then only add it to the fullsize pool above.
  • Thumbnails: pool #81
