Question about any 'sleeves' tag

Posted under Tags

I'm doing some gardening to my detached sleeves and arm warmers uploads to add any colored sleeves tags. Looking at previous posts for more popular colors like black sleeves and white sleeves however, I see that apparently all sorts of sleeves are tagged, whether they be from a full color shirt (post #3080186, post #3073812), a shrug (post #2909338, post #3149198) or raglan sleeves (post #3259848).

My understanding was that any *_sleeves tag only dealt with detached sleeves/non-gloved armwear (like arm warmers or puffy sleeves) rather than from sleeved shirts and clothing. If I were to write any wikis for the *_sleeves tags, I would like to confirm whether or not this is true so the wikis can be better defined, plus I can clean up posts that don't fit the definition.

The color should be tagged if the sleeves are different from the rest of the garment, whether detached or attached, or if only the sleeves are worn. That's my take. If it ends up being that detached ones have to be tagged I don't mind doing that.

I don't want to tag the color of Reimu's sleeves.

Me neither, although I'm going through some alternate color posts of her and other Touhous and tagging them. There might be value if someone wanted to find posts of her with, say, red or black sleeves instead of the usual white.

The only thing I'm dubious about is that with raglan sleeves, wouldn't that mean tagging both the shirt color and the sleeves color separately? It wouldn't surprise me if some people thought that would be cumbersome in the long run.

If it's attached and the same color as the rest of the garment, I think it would be pointless to tag. The other cases (like raglan sleeves) seems worth tagging.

That would mean some gardening with the more well-populated tags since some posts with attached sleeves are the same color as the garment.

Wow, I thought this was going to be another topic about distinguishing between juliet_sleeves and puffy_long_sleeves, or something like that. Definitely wasn't expecting another color tag discussion.

Anyway, I won't begrudge anyone tagging individual sleeve colors, even if I don't think it adds a ton of value to search. It's still better than tagging the colors of non-costume items like towels and curtains, though.

I suggested a grouped colored armwear tag, just like the legwear one, to avoid tagging specifically sleeves, arm warmers, etc. but it got split up a bit; whit people more interested in hand wear color tags.

I still like this idea in general, but I'm not sure sleeves (when not detached) should be treated as "armwear" any more than sailor collars are part of "neckwear". Raglan_sleeves aren't just an accessory you can choose to mix and match.

This so much, especially the last part.
