What is the difference here between a “sleeveless jacket” and a vest?

Well it's kinda like a tank top compared to a sleeveless shirt. Vests don't come with a collars like jackets do and they are not as protective against the weather. And while there are hooded vests (most of the posts under that tag seems to be jackets, rather) they are much rarer than hooded jackets which can also come in sleeveless variants. post #3574781 is a good example of a sleeveless jacket.

Might be a locality issue then, as checking some US retailers it would seem that a "sleeveless jacket" by your definition would still be called a vest.

Anyways this is fine, so long as the tags' wikis are set to point out these specific differences. Will approve the implication this weekend, unless additional discussion pops up that would warrant delaying it.
