Alias headpat

BUR #5232 has been rejected.

create alias headpat -> petting

Headpat seems to be linked to headset, not sure if it's an alias, but "headpat" itself doesn't work at all. I think aliasing headpat to petting is accurate because most petting is on the head

That's just the typo suggestion system trying to give you a similar tag you might have wanted.

This alias is unneeded as head_pat is already aliased to Petting.

EDIT: On second thought, Nameless's comment makes sense.

head_pat is already aliased to petting but at least in the communities I frequent headpat written together is more commonly used.

I'd say it should be the other way around. Headpat is more common these days and calling it petting means there's no tag for petting animals.

I second this, I've always thought it was a bit weird we used the term I'd more likely use for animals for people here. There ought to be a way to separate them since the context and action usually differs quite a bit.

This will require some cleanup afterwards to remove the petting alias and reappropriate it for actual petting of animals.

Now petting sounds like it's mutually exclusive with headpat. It also means pokemon etc cannot be tagged with headpats. Do they have to be mutually exclusive?

This seems absurd to me. It's very unintuitive that something like post #4477763 cannot be tagged with headpat.

I don't think so, and if it's up to me, I would have the tags determined by region, rather than species. If it's on the head, it's headpat. If it's somewhere else, it's petting.

Good point. Should we use both for posts like this? What about catgirls being treated like cats, headpat, petting or both? Does an animal pet another animal or is it a headpat? What about a role reversal like post #3759179?
