Request for deletion of Kantai Collection 2021 Artbook Uploads.

Posted under General

Hello I would like to bring to attention, especially to moderation teams that user "Death Usagi" recently has uploaded scans of the Kantai Collection 8th anniversary, 2021 artbook. Why is this a concern? This book literally has just been released to pre-orders, with public release on Japanese sites and bookstores at 23rd April 2021.
Before this, Death Usagi has caused an issue regarding KanColle's Season 2 trailer debut on the "KanColle JAZZ" event, it caused a massive uproar among Japanese communities, and probably also why C2 Kikan does not trust international people for a global merchandise release, as the current way to get KanColle merch is only through Japanese websites, with proxy shopping.
I have reached my flag limit so I could not list them all for review, but I will update this thread with the post codes with included page scans of the artbook. This is my first time using the forum, so please forgive me if I had messed up in posting under the right channels as I am not used to the UI.

A few that you listed have children of identical appearance with minor differences which were uploaded years ago, so I don't see a problem in those cases.

I am aware yes, I wrote them down just in case because it does appear in the art book. Usually most of them are the "uncropped" version of drawings, such as post #4474913 being the full version of a PR picture used which was cropped. But anyways, I don't think a company would be happy to have their artbook content being out there when it's not even on public release yet.

Don't flag those images. A deletion won't make them disappear. You can still see deleted images if you search for status:deleted.

I see, I was never aware of the deleted tab being a thing. Thanks for informing me about this.

We should also be reminded that DB is to some extent doing justice to overseas fans of Kancolle since not all of us have the money to pre-order or buy this, even more so since we're still in the middle of a pandemic and we may or may not have the same salaries as we used to have prior to the pandemic.

As already stated here, some of the illustrations already exist years to months prior to this so asking them to be stricken from the site is a pointless exercise. It's even more pointless by pointing out that DU has already posted them on her FB page and who knows how many has already dl'd those off the original FB entry, with the prospect of resharing them and re-uploading them on other sites and FB pages all too real.

Not to mention that DB exists in a twofold way: to provide such material because of limitations of getting them from the Japanese sources themselves and to archive them.
Under normal circumstances iirc, we only take down such works if they were made by Western publishers.

tl;dr: the scans are already out there, no use removing them from this site when they may be circulating in social media and Reddit as we speak.

I personally do not agree that DU's actions as justified, as it's still leeching copyrighted material and again, the book isn't even on public release yet as only pre-orders obtained the book currently. If it was 23rd April then I would let this thing go.
Last time she did something similar was showing KanColle season 2 trailer but guess what? She didn't go to the event, but her sharing the leaks made the international audience looked bad to the Japanese audience.
But this is as far as I'm going to do, I'll be stopping here after discussing the matter with some of the mates.
