Pokemon has over 100 copyright tags, the majority of which are tags for episodes or movies which are applied to a dozen posts or so. They are ugly and unnecessary and lead to various posts having dozens of copyright tags, many of which exist solely on that post. They should just be removed. Opening this thread for discussion by request.
The anime episodes can definitely go, but I think movie tags can stay. However, I need to question why in the world they're all tagged as "Pokemon_m#". It took me a moment to even realize those were for the movies. There's 23 of them, how is anyone supposed to know which movie is the one they're looking for? The movies have titles, they should just use the titles.
We should definitely keep the movie tags, as there are a lot of characters, costumes, sets etc... that are unique to them, as well as potential for significant population.
Tagging individual episodes of the ongoing anime is too much, however, and these should be nuked. Many of them only ever get a handful of posts. The parent tags such as pokemon_dppt_(anime) are sufficient.

I've kind of just memorised the numbers personally, but I do agree that the average user is going to remember the movies better by "That one with Jirachi in it" or "Pokemon Heroes". If we aren't fond of the numbers, we could just keep them as shortcut aliases only and have tags similar to the Wikipedia article names. Like so:
I looked up the movie names, and all I can do is shake my head at the first five titles. Is there any reason we can't just use the exact titles? Do we need to put Pokemon at the beginning of all of them even though only the first five movies are titled that way?
Edit: Took a closer look at the titles, they're actually more inconsistent than I realized. The first five being the worst. I would support just using "Pokemon:" followed by whatever the proper title is.
Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Pokemon: The Power of One Pokemon: Spell of the Unown
Also noticed the episode tags have already been manually nuked.
@Talulah Make a BUR to nuke the tags next time before you go out of your way and do it like that.
Specially because some of those tags could have something in common from which you can create a substitute tag. For example, pokemon_sm113 was mainly for that magical girl show, so the_refreshing_trio:_alola_idols is a viable tag. I don't know how many of those have viable substitutes though.
About the movie tags, would we have to retag bianca_(pokemon_m05) if we move to using the titles? Also, some anime characters have episode numbers in their tags because of repeated names. Should we rename those tags?
Easier to type isn't as important as easier to recognize if you ask me. I'm not sure what you mean by ordering, autofill orders by post count not alphabetical order.
If the fanbase prefers using numbers I don't think there's anything wrong with retaining them. Or have it as an alias. I think a lot of the dedicated fan forums use Bulbapedia "epicodes" and fan-specific terminology.
That said... tagging specific episodes is definitely unnecessary. And clunky.

Edit:
Personally, here's what I would prefer:
When a new movie comes out, tag it using Pokemon_m[NUMBER]. No need to bother translating/transliterating the Japanese name.
When the official English title gets released, alias the Pokemon_m[NUMBER] copytag to the official English name. If the "official" English name is too long and clunky then maybe we can consider cutting out all the extraneous colon cancer subtitles in the middle that are mostly meaningless marketing hype and gets ignored by the fanbase anyway (they just use the rightmost "subtitle").
Use *_(Pokemon_m[NUMBER]) as the qualifier for characters and other tags if a qualifier is necessary.
(Maybe use Pokemon_movie_[NUMBER] instead of the Pokemon_m[NUMBER] above as the initial tag/qualifier to make it clearer.)
Edit 2:
Another alternative:
When a new movie comes out, tag it using Pokemon_movie_[NUMBER]. No need to bother translating/transliterating the Japanese name.
When the official English title gets released, use an alias or rename to add the relevant English "subtitle(s)" at the end of the above (Pokemon_movie_[NUMBER]:_[SUBTITLE]), ignoring all "extraneous" subtitles like "pokemon the movie", "4ever", etc.
Use *_(Pokemon_movie_[NUMBER]) as the qualifier for characters and other tags if a qualifier is necessary.
I'd prefer to alias the numbers to the full movie, or at least a readable title ie no need for "_the_movie" on each one. I've seen 20 out of the list and I have no idea which one is which number.
As for characters like Bianca, I think we can leave those as-is. There's a grant total of two such tags.
