imply future trunks -> trunks

BUR #6460 has been approved by @evazion.

create implication trunks_(future)_(dragon_ball) -> trunks_(dragon_ball)

I don't understand why we're separating them. If majin vegeta implies vegeta then future trunks should imply trunks.

We can (and should) use dual_persona to tag pictures where both show up, not place artificial separations.

"But he's from an alternate universe!"
Yeah, alternate universe Trunks. Still Trunks.

The distinction was made so that people searching for Future Trunks wouldn't have to wad through Kid Trunks and his older Z/GT self, and vice-versa. With Majin Vegeta at least, there's a continuity to it being that same character. With Trunks, when folks think of him, it's damn well always going to be his Future self.

If you're gonna do this for Trunks, you may as well do it for the other Dragon Ball future chartags that exist too.

There's also Trunks_(future)_(xeno)_(dragon_ball) though I'm less sure what that character is supposed to be. Think it's an alternate time self of the alternate time self.

The Xeno tags have slightly spiraled out of control, effectively serving as 'skin' tags for the characters that have them (being alternate 'plucked-out-of-time' versions of said characters, working to fix time), due to them always having a different look to the regular version of them.

I haven't seen this topic before but disagree 100% with this implication. These two Trunks are completely different characters, and this Majin Vegeta argument doesn't make any sense because we are talking here of a character's transformation. This implication also makes it difficult to differentiate these Trunks when searching them, specially for posts depicting Present Trunks from GT. Unless there's a Present Trunks tag, this implication isn't helpful at all, on the contrary...

trunks_(dragon_ball) dragon_ball_gt. You already had to use the GT tag before anyway.

You're going to have to explain the difference between Present Trunks and Future Trunks to me because I don't know anything about Dragon Ball.

Future Trunks, molded by the tragedy of his time, is a well-mannered and courageous teen who ends up getting tired of the fact that the others didn't heed his warning of the Androids seriously enough. His attire, with the iconic jacket, would be his defining look in Z. During his first appearance, Present Trunks wasn't even born, while during his second, he was, but was still a baby. In Super, now a grown adult, he'd switch for a different look.

Present Trunks, deliberately on contrast, is framed as a cocky dick of a kid, raised during a time of peace and calm. Though the seriousness of Z's final arc would help him get better, his cockiness is something ingrained. His attire in Z, with his dougi, sets him further apart from his Future self. He'd often be paired with Goten, and would lead to Gotenks later on. He keeps the same look in Super, most likely due to marketing reasons. The brief End of Z would finally see him aged up to the same age as Future Trunks, but the attitude difference remains, and it would be this Trunks that would join Goku and Pan in the non-canon GT.

Neither share many techniques, owing to their different teachers, their attitudes and interests are distinct due to the different worlds they grew up in, and when folks think of Trunks in Z, it is typically Future Trunks, as a result of him being a more interesting character to folks.

Unless we do it like Joseph Joestar and make a Present Trunks tag too, with Trunks (dragon ball) becoming a catch all tag.

I would support this, but consider there is also mai_(future)_(dragon_ball), bulma_(future), and son_gohan_(future) who don't implicate their main tag, and should get their own *_(present) version of the tags to be consistent with Trunks' changes.

I am familiar with Dragonball and don't see why all versions of a character shouldn't have a catchall tag.

The reason for it is that these future versions are much less popular and relevant when compared to Future Trunks, hence why there was never a need for these characters to have catch all tags like that. This implication from BUR #6460 also is uneeded because it makes unnecessarily more difficult to search for Present Trunks only posts, and makes more room for mistags to happen. However, if we will really go this route... then we need a Present Trunks tag.
