Changing opaque glasses to eyewear

Posted under Tags

BUR #6618 has been rejected.

remove implication opaque_glasses -> glasses
create alias opaque_glasses -> opaque_eyewear
create alias partially_opaque_glasses -> partially_opaque_eyewear
create alias opaque_monocle -> opaque_eyewear

Because having a separate single digit tag for monocles only is dumb

(The half_opaque_glasses alias could also probably be renamed, but right now I don't see it hurting anything)

Do sunglasses get excluded? I'm thinking that the default depiction of shades is as opaque eyewear, and thus would overwhelm the proposed opaque eyewear tag. If they are excluded, how do we enforce that without having to constantly garden/camp those tags, since the average user base doesn't really pay attention to tagging guidelines.

The tag would function the exact same way opaque glasses is being used now, except without arbitrarily excluding monocles.

I had to recently explain to a user why sunglasses should not be used with tinted eyewear and mass revert their edits, so I'm worried about that too. Also I don't like that we'll have to manually tag glasses when 99.9% of the posts under opaque eyewear will be glasses.

This seems rather weird or the statement is way too broad so I better check back.
Why should something like post #4720495 not be tagged with tinted eyewear, since orange is a pretty uncommon color, even for sunglasses, which are usually black.
