Requesting for turntable, record_player, record_machine, gramophone, victrola be aliased to phonograph
It's not particularly important, but it's another tag I watch occasionally, and people give these things various names.

Seems fine with me.
Do you think there might be a need to have a tag for the more modern style (post #336235, post #120168) phonograph in comparison to the older style (post #401426, post #71224)? Tagging the newer ones turntable with an implication to phonograph would resolve it, if others think it might be useful.
There is also the very old style cylinder phonographs, but seeing as there is one post (post #284506) right now, I don't think it is needed. If sometime in the future a lot appear, we could always add a cylinder_phonograph tag with a phonograph implication.
I'm not against a turntable -> phonograph implication rather than alias.
When I first paid attention to the tag, there were less than 20 images tagged, almost all old-style, so I didn't see much issue with merging them, but a tag for newer style turntables wouldn't be bad now that there are almost 50 altogether.
Ok, I've tagged modern turntables as such which worked out to about half of them. As for definitions, I'd say if it has an electrical pickup, it's a modern turntable. If it has a cone it's only a phonograph.
post #69387 and post #31435 are slightly grey area since they have no visible cone, but you can tell from the tube that they do not have electronic styli either so I didn't tag them turntable.
