Pool for "handsome gentlemen"?

Posted under General

Not that it's necessarily a bad idea, but I think the idea behind the "handsome ladies" tag was that it rubbed against gender-norms, and as such was notable. Traditional femininity is generally thought of as "pretty" or "beautiful" or "sexy" or "cute", "handsome" is more in line with masculine gender-norms. That's why so many instances in that pool feature a girl/woman either wearing a guys' suit or taking the place of a guy in a couple. The exact opposite would be closer to "pretty guys" or something along those lines, maybe a metro-sexual vibe?

"Handome gentlemen" might be more akin to "beautiful ladies", which is kind of the norm for a site like this, so less notable as a topic of a pool. That said, it also isn't especially common here to depict guys in suits acting acting particularly mature and gallant or distinguished, so maybe it's still a pool-able concept.

"Pretty guys" is a pretty common trope, especially on this site. Otoko no kos are an extreme example of this.

Maybe like Shinjidude said, have a pool for something where the guy is more dapper. Something like "Distinguished Gentlemen". I would maybe also stipulate that it would have to be something outside the norm for a character, since the inclusion in the pool and a character tag should never be one-to-one, otherwise it would be a useless distinction.

I understand it can be a subjective thing (that could be said for many pools though?), perhaps there is overlap with existing tags. I actually got the idea from this post #4957196 I uploaded. Perhaps "graceful" or "dignified" would be the qualities I'm thinking? Maybe it's just me, though.

Handsome ladies, as explained, was made with a specific bucking of expectations. It's mostly just a pool for women in pant suits and butler uniforms, with some oddities from it being a pool. (kobeni get out of there you're in a maid uniform post #4879400)

There's already clear overlap with the formal, pant suit, suit, and female butler tags. I'm certain a fan of the pool can point to some ephemeral quality that goes beyond those tags that I don't get.

Handsome Men, however, feels like it would just be 70% of Wal's uploads because that's kinda the point.

Yeah I agree with Shinji and Vera. The pool should be for something that's not the norm.

Graceful or beautiful men, perhaps. Not sure what else to call this sort of thing.
But then there's also the bishounen tag, though I don't think 90Anime's example quite fits and it's quite underused.
