Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu Character Tags

Posted under General

There are three main characters of the series in the Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu movie that are significantly different from their original versions.

  • Suzumiya Haruhi - She doesn't cut her hair at all and wears a different school uniform.
  • Nagato Yuki - She wears a pair of glasses like she did in the beginning of the series, but here she is, a shy girl.
  • Koizumi Itsuki - Just like Haruhi, he attends the same school with her and wears a different school uniform like her.

So, does the versions of these characters above deserve their own tags?

Haruhi has a separate character tag for her younger counterpart and Mikuru also has a character tag for her older counterpart, I assume these tags were made due to their age.

Middle school Haruhi is a specific middle school version of Haruhi, so a tag would be necessary to differentiate something like post #329301 from post #2779115. Asahina Mikuru (Adult) is more than just an age variant of Mikuru, she is also a separate character from younger Mikuru in the stories and has co-existed in the world at the same time. Younger Mikuru receives orders from the future to make sure events will lead up to the future that adult Mikuru exists in, and Kyon highly suspects that adult Mikuru may in fact be younger Mikuru's superior and the person directly sending her orders. Although younger Mikuru could become the same person as adult Mikuru, given the events at the end of the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya it's also possible that the two characters could diverge. Much like Mikuru's antagonist Fujiwara is from a divergent timeline and knew a Mikuru who was a different adult Mikuru from the adult Mikuru that appears in the series.

I see, that all makes sense then.

Yeah I totally see the point of having Asahina Mikuru (Adult) as a tag, but suzumiya haruhi (young) is a litte... too much imo. suzumiya_haruhi younger would already do the job.

Well one issue, which I realized is that there are two official younger variants of Haruhi. The wiki is written for middle schooler Haruhi (7th grade) that appears in Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody (LN and Anime) with the orange shirt with Panda logo and blue shorts (post #36728, post #4625926), which is the most common form of younger Haruhi. There is also an elementary schooler Haruhi (6th grade) depicted in the anime (episode: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya V) with a pink sweater, white shirt, and red skirt (post #49606). I believe elementary schooler Haruhi is only ever mentioned in the LN, while the anime actually depicted her.

Despite only being a year apart in age, 7th Grade Haruhi normally tends to be depicted recognizably older (imo) than 6th Grade Haruhi who is always depicted as recognizable a loli-type design. Elementary schooler Haruhi also tends to be depicted with more leeway on her attire, but always a combo of red skirt/dress with white and pink top.
7th Grade: post #481976, post #3988646, post #2060218 (although exceptions like post #587572)
6th Grade: post #164943, post #160496, post #182589.

There are of course then depictions of a younger Haruhi without referencing a specific version of her from the series: post #933526, post #193180, post #722209, post #430487, post #637607

I guess a BUR would be appropriate to have both older Mikuru and younger Haruhi imply their original tags, though I think there may be other tags for different versions of Haruhi that were made years ago, just making sure before I do it.
