I can't bother reading through this entire threads history, is the basic story just that no payment processor will work with danbooru and that it will probably stay that way? Why not use monero or usdt (apologies if this has already been asked)

For the 9001st time, evazion has expressed zero interest in any sort of crypto.
I am going to begin my journey to becoming a builder; I suspect I will give up long before I reach it.
I guess I'll just start tagging a few posts every day. Anybody know how realistic it actually is? Is there like a maximum amount of builders or something? Is there a formal process of is it kinda just when they think you did enough?
Can you lose builder if you're inactive?

Any idea around how many posts would it get builder on average, gave up at around 230 a year ago, might get back to uploading things.
Thank you for a response and have a great day.
It says in about:upload_limits that the criteria for contributor-level users (the next user level above builder) is 500-750 posts with a recent deletion ratio of 5% or less. If I recall correctly, I got promoted to contributor with about 800 posts and 6 deletions. With 234 posts and no deleted posts, I think you're on a good trajectory to contributor.

It looks like evazion lowered the requirement a couple weeks ago. It still said 1,000 when you were promoted.

There are new webpage https://promotions.nonamethanks.xyz/ and old script https://github.com/nonamethanks/danboorutools/blob/master/danboorutools/scripts/promotion_suggestions.py (constants on lines 25-34 are the most important in our context) that can help you to understand what to aim for.
In the script you can see: BUILDER_MAX_DEL_PERC = 15, MIN_STANDALONE_EDITS = 5000, MIN_EDITS_WITH_UPLOADS = 3000.
On the webpage you can see filter Gardeners for Builder (>5000 edits).

Just to be absolutely clear, reaching these amounts won't guarantee a promotion. It will just make you more visible. They still need to look over what you did to make sure you actually deserve the promotion and didn't just spam a bunch of bad edits or something.

This site is like reverse Wikipedia. Instead of assume good faith on edits every commentator immediately assumes bad faith and points out that bullshit edits will be used to deny you a role.

Are you suggesting we should just assume no one ever misuses tags? I mean, what are you even talking about? Why would we not make people aware that contributions to the site need to actually be good for them to be considered for promotion?
All Blank User was saying is that the number of edits by itself doesn’t guarantee a promotion.
So person A is like, look there's a new threshold dashboard view for post changes that could be used to get builder. Person A profile looks like they are a pretty active contributor doing things properly.
Person B immediately responds, btw this threshold doesn't guarantee anything and if you bullshit your edits you still won't get builder.
You don't see why that's a bit unnecessary to add lol?

It's extra, relevant information and wasn't accusatory at all. People ask all the time for thresholds and why person X isn't a certain rank despite having certain contribution numbers. Mentioning that you can't just spam contributions is a good reminder for those looking to contribute.

Why are errmode's contributions relevant here? Cyandata was the one asking what was necessary to get promoted. All I did was add further clarification about the dashboard filters. I did not in any way suggest that errmode ...erred in any way. Their advice was good and the dashboard is a helpful resource. But if you start listing thresholds without context, inexperienced users will end up wondering why they didn't get promoted even though they reached the magic number.
It needs to be said explicitly that reaching those numbers gets your foot in the door (for only one specific Mod/Admin, by the way), but it won't be enough on its own to get you promoted, especially when there are other factors beyond numbers to consider (quality of work, behavior in the comments/forums, etc.). We don't automatically promote users and we (hopefully) never will.
Also, even if your edits are good, it's no guarantee of promotion either. I think I made somewhere around 9300 edits over about 2 months without doing anything else, no posts in the forums or anything; I don't think I got noticed until I started uploading. All that to say, if you're wanting to become a builder or higher, you may need to do more than just tag editing. Being active in forum discussions, translating (if you know Japanese or other languages), asking questions, and uploading good art probably all help.

It is possible to become Builder without uploading a single thing (though uploading will still help). However, uploading is necessary to become a Contributor or Approver because the benefits given is directly tied to it. You can't be trusted to have an eye for quality if you haven't uploaded much, after all.
Also, if you can amass a large number of good uploads in a short amount of time, you can skip the Builder rank entirely and go straight to Contributor. Only a few users have been able to skip Builder, but there was one user who managed to reach Contributor a mere two weeks after creating an account.
