Remove alias for colored legwear tag and return individual legwear color tags

Most fishnet legwear is pantyhose or thighhighs. If you want "fishnets without legwear" then you can do fishnets -fishnet_pantyhose -fishnet_thighhighs. I don't think this is much more of a burden than doing fishnets -fishnet_legwear. Not enough to justify keeping the tag. It's more to type but it's not the kind of search you do every day.

I think our priorities have been backwards here. We don't care about how hard it is to do simple searches like fishnet pantyhose or fishnet thighhighs, but we do care about uncommon searches like "fishnets without legwear".

The cost of midtier umbrella tags is that a single piece of clothing gets upwards of five tags: fishnets, fishnet legwear, fishnet pantyhose, black legwear, and black pantyhose. Multiply that across every piece of clothing and you've got 5 or more tags for every piece of clothing on the post. Meanwhile replacing fishnet legwear with fishnet pantyhose increases precision without increasing tags per post.

The other cost is people not tagging the actual type of legwear. We've got tens of thousands of *_legwear posts missing the thighhighs or pantyhose tags because of people tagging the legwear color and that's it. We tell people to search things like fishnet_legwear pantyhose, but it doesn't actually work because of how many posts aren't tagged with the type of legwear.

Leaving it for vote, I added the ones I believe that are the most important and would make more sense.

solo leggings ~fishnet_legwear ~frilled_legwear ~vertical-striped_legwear gives only five proper tagged posts, so I removed the lines that would replace them for fisnhet leggings, frilled leggings and vertical-striped leggings.

I guess these should be done too so people don't think they should be making them. Also including implications from single kneehighs/over-kneehigh to sock/thighhigh respectively, but not sure if we'd rather keep them separate or alias them.

I'd rather deprecate these instead of aliasing them. We never had aliases for them in the past and creating them would pollute autocomplete when searching for things like red oni or Blue Oak.

Requesting these tags be undeprecated for the simple reason that legwear length cannot always be determined. For example, distinguishing thighhighs from pantyhose can't be done if someone is fully clothed in a long dress or skirt, in absence of skirt lift, upskirt, zettai ryouiki, etc.

theres no way this doesnt end with people constantly repopulating those tags with the legwears of known length
from what ive heard the guiding rule is if you cant tell the difference, then its functionally pantyhose

Generally speaking, I would figure if you're searching thighhighs, or any legwear tag of a specific length, then you're looking for legwear that visibly stops at that length. If you can't tell where the legwear stops, then it's not really what you're looking for. So, as you said, in those situations it's functionally pantyhose, and people searching for pantyhose would probably appreciate it more than people looking for other types of legwear.

Though, there are probably tons of canon tagged posts despite this.

That’s how I’ve tagged them too, maybe add a not on their wikis might help avoid canon tagging.

If they're visually indistinguishable from pantyhose, then tag them as pantyhose.

You can't always tell the difference between a bikini and underwear either, or between a skirt and a dress, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of the distinction between these things. Instead you tag the best you can based on the context.

One of the problems with the legwear tags is that they allow people to tag the legwear color but not the type of legwear itself. As a result we have tens of thousands of posts missing the pantyhose or thighhighs tags, because someone tagged the legwear color but not the type.

The legwear color tags weren't created so you could avoid tagging the actual type of legwear. They were created because at the time we thought there were too many clothing color tags, and we wanted to reduce the number of them. That ship has long since sailed.
