I think the tag is okayish, but only if it's used for stuff like post #5814018 or post #5655732 and not post #5882825.

Yeah, reading an upside-down book is a fairly well known gag, I don't see any problem with having a tag for it. Maybe it could use a different name?
As long as it stops people from tagging it on posts like post #4317805 and post #5883517 then sure, we also have the general upside-down tag and reading (questionable value) tags.
I think I've been using upside-down book incorrectly to describe open books which its page is facing down (the ground/surface). For instance post #5883517 (facing the lap).

Isn't that easily misunderstood to mean the character is upside-down rather than the book?
How often does that happen? Would inverted book be better or have the original issue? Inverted reading would still have the dangling participle.
I'm not sure there's a better name without being more verbose like reading the wrong way, pretending to read, reading wrong, reading inverted book, reading upside-down book, upside-down open book.

Either holding_upside-down_book or holding_book_upside-down would be best. A common trope of holding it upside down is that they're not actually reading it, but rather looking over the top and spying on someone. However, the question should also be raised if we want a more general tag that doesn't only refer to books since the trope also applies to newspapers, magazines, even paper maps etc.
Yeah, reading upside-down would exclude post #3366512 for example, which definitely fits in this tag.
This tag is pretty small anyway, so I don't see much danger in keeping the status quo.
