Rename military_helmet into combat helmet, but the tag has too much posts.

Posted under Tags

The bulk update request #13999 has been rejected.

create alias military_helmet -> combat_helmet
remove implication stahlhelm -> military_helmet
remove implication m1_helmet -> military_helmet

Such helmet that protects head from melee attack, shrapnel, grenade frags, as well as bullets are not exclusively worn by military personnel. It's a more appropiate name according to the Wikipedia page. I explain why:

For the sake of consistency - we've got combat boots tag, instead of military_boots. We have combat_knife instead of military_knife, because such knife is also widely used by civilian hunters and survivalists.
Edit:5 days into rejection despite I've stated my best arguments in favour of aliasing.

Another edit: Excuse me, staffs. Would you please kindly reconsider and look back at automatically rejected BURs (with more than a single upvote)? I think it's miserable that many BURs are left unmoderated, underlooked even by most active users, rejected automatically after a long time, while some got handled really quickly. When it comes to character-related ones, more steadfast action tends to be taken.
I don't even know how to appeal autorejected BURs, unless by updating my post. While creating another forum post would be redundant. Do autorejected BURs actually have chance to be resurrected into pending queue?

  • I personally think that "combat helmet" might be the best since it would encompass both modern ballistic helmets and ~WW1 -> WW2-style helmets, as well as the more ceremonial headgear of the pre-WW1 era.

    Agreed. Another reason why I'd prefer aliasing it into combat_helmet, because most early designs of protective headwears are not even bulletproof, even against handgun rounds.

    helmets, implied by the wiki, shouldn't be ceremonial

    I was thinking along the likes of the more ornate pickelhaubes also being included in this category, in addition to the stahlhelms of the early 20th century.
