~90% of the times this tag has been added to a post it has subsequently been removed.
This BUR should help reduce the common mistags for swirl, @_@, and fingerprint; although it probably won't help with mistags for twitter_username, which seems to represent a majority of mistags.

If that's the case, then the BUR should also deprecate @ to avoid further misuse. As it's a enough short tag that the autocomplete won't even show up for most incorrect uses, leaving the alias active will just direct the misuse to @_(symbol) instead.
It seems reasonable to have a tag for things like post #1041787, post #4045048, and post #2676197, so I think a rename makes more sense than deprecation.

You might be right, but it does look quite a bit like an "@" and there are images of that character with a clear "@" symbol (post #2050914, post #1446033), so I'm not sure.
BUR #14885 has been approved by @evazion.
rename @ -> @_(symbol)
deprecate @
I misread AngryZapdos's comment as meaning we should deprecate the tag instead of aliasing. I agree that the tag is ambiguous should be deprecated after the posts are moved (if we choose to go that route).
Edit: Updated to include a rename
