Name confusion with wing_collar tag

Posted under Tags

According to a simple Google search and other sources, a wing_collar (or wingtip collar) is one that stands upright and has just the two front corners folded down (see image at Wikipedia or post #5333691). Our wiki, however, ultimately recommends the tag be used for most turned-down (as opposed to standing) collars that have pointed corners in front. This has filled a tag named for a collar popular for formalwear (though less common overall) with examples of the most common collar type, and makes it difficult to find actual images of wing collars without adding several other tags.

I began a BUR to rename the tag to something like turndown_collar or folded_collar, then I noticed the rule that "Tags with more than 200 posts can't be renamed, they must be aliased." I understand why this rule exists, since it's hard to change users' tagging habits, let alone make them read the wiki. In this case, though, I think aliasing would compound the issue and further bury actual wing collars.

Is there any good way to change this at this point? I believe it could help to both rename the existing tag to one of the options above and also create a new wingtip_collar tag to help differentiate it from the old, inaccurate name. Does anyone else feel it matters enough to be invested in this one?
