proof of concept for my take on pooling this tag. it would also include DEFY and Anti-Rain (maybe Sangvis Ferri and the other general factions? for SF in particular, there are already individual tags for the bosses/mobs so a gentag seems like filler), I was just too tired at the moment and will do it later if reception is positive.

also if enough people are on board, this thread can be used to pool factions from ALL copyrights one step at a time, I noticed Project Sekai had faction tags too and that seriously made me roll my eyes.

Based on the title of that pool, you seek to dump all gatherings of one faction/squad into it? I'm opposed to the idea of whole faction tags like Sangvis Ferri or Autobots getting thrown out, but it might not hurt too much to delegate smaller groups to such a pool.
On the other hand, how big do you expect this pool to become if it does replace small group tags like 404 and DEFY? What would changing from a tag to a pool do? How many users/uploaders add or remove from pools at all?

As for why I don't approve of faction tags like Sangvis Ferri or Paradeus getting trashed- Frankly I just want to be able to look at sexy evil androids with an aesthetic.
Griffin is a lot more understandable, since there's few cases where the G&K logo is drawn and there's only a uniform for Commanders. I was thinking of renaming it to a logo tag.

Project Sekai has them only because other older group-based MUGs like Bang Dream! and Ensemble Stars! also have them and someone just followed that. And they were used to catch the vocaloids' different forms before we gave them individual tags. I'm fine either way, not sure if ppl really found them useful, same for the other MUGs.

yes, which is already what faction tags do.

thinking about it, it does seem like broader faction tags serve as a quick way to look for a group of characters with similar appearances, so I guess those are fine. The three smaller groups have less than 1000 combined posts that will reduce further when I garden them tomorrow™ (in 404 alone only 321 images made it into the favgroup, which means there are 165 mistags... brilliant) so it shouldn't be too large. users can search pool:20172 [charname] and theoretically find every image with all group members of that character.

hopefully stupid-proof these tags, since I doubt many blue users (the prime suspects) are too familiar with pools. willfully putting UMP9 having sex with a faceless male into a pool titled "Faction Meetup" also takes a whole lot more conscious thought than slapping a faction tag on a post, but maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

this might be an over-complicated approach, but simply gardening them out is not only tedious but also an ugly surface-level fix for such an endemic trend in literally any copyright with groups.

updated the BUR for the other 2 minor faction tags. if you want more proof that these tags suck, the Anti-Rain favgroup has 112/216 of its original posts, and DEFY is an (again, brilliant) 80/315. not saying a pool will miraculously solve the issues faction tags face, but the only direction from rock bottom is up...

Objective concepts should be tags, not pools. Pools are meant to be for sequential images and for subjective concepts.

Does this mean we should turn pool #10686, which operates on a similar concept, into (a) tag(s)?

I pushed this pool as sort of a piloting idea, so I would be fine with self-appointing as the Faction Tags Tsar and just writing mistaggers angry DMails, I guess. The Ship-Class Reunion pool was honestly my inspiration for this system, so if we're angling towards faction tags and not faction pools it should get nuked. the only usage I can think of that wouldn't be inherently obvious is if there are kanmusu girls of the same class from more than one game (i.e. Akatsuki-class, but it's Azur Lane Akatsuki + Hibiki and Kancolle Inazuma + Ikazuchi), but this could easily be a tag like "ship class connection".
