Tag Implication: *phone -> phone

Posted under General

These don't have a particularly large number of tags, but I think an implication of this sort might be useful a la the turntable decision:

cellphone -> phone (636 posts)
corded_phone -> phone (89 posts)
cordless_phone -> phone (24 posts)
phone_booth -> phone (12 posts)
iphone -> cellphone -> phone (10 posts)
payphone -> phone (8 posts)
string_phone -> phone (6 posts) (maybe)

The last few have next to nothing, but I could see all but the last easily growing (there have to be at least several instances untagged uploaded already). The implications would allow for easy searching of a more general concept without convoluted queries, and encourage more descriptive tagging without increasing fragmentation.

post #269558: I've only heard ones like that called "field radios". They're radios, they just have a microphone and speaker put in a telephone-like handset.

Yeah they're field radios, though I've been told and it is mentioned on wikipedia that the backpack mounted ones were originally nicknamed "walkie-talkies." I'd imagine that any intended for field use would have the label "field radio," so using that term would include a few other style of two-way radio transceivers.

Anyways, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use field_radio to label those kinds of radios. Not sure if it would be a good idea or not to put them also under the radio tag. I guess it depends on if we're using it for the music playing only kind or for any type of radio.

I would have gone through and verified that everything tagged phone is also tagged something else before completely overwhelming what little isn't tagged that way with cellphone but that might just be me. :I
