dungeon meshi character tag (spoilers)

Posted under Tags

Regarding dungeon meshi's sub char-tag name was created recently. Some of them pretty much spell out the later plot of the story.

I'm not sure about how we usually deal with spoilers in tag name. I assume that we do try keeping them as vague as possible (from two only examples I can think of is AoT attack titan and Houseki no kuni blue hair Phosphophyllite).

I would like to adjust the tag name so they're less spoilers

I do think the changing name could be better but that's the best I can come up with my rusty engrish.

What do you all think about it? Alternate suggestions are always welcome.

I would think something like "Lord Marcille Donato" would work since the official translation has referred to the position as simply Lord, Lord of the Dungeon, and Dungeon's Lord.

For Falin related tag, I think "Dragon Chimera (Dungeon Meshi)" or "Chimera Dragon (Dungeon Meshi)" as the tag name would be fine. The Lord of the Dungeon considered it the same as the red dragon.

As for Laios, I can't think of anything at this time.

The tag make it easier in searching. I pondered over making them in the past but choosing a good no-spoilers name was the first step that stop me.

Is there any precedent for obscuring character tags like this, though?

I think there's no hard rule about it but I assume we do try avoiding spoilers as long as it's not too inconvenient.
Akuma Homura isn't english do help a bit.

The clumsy elf's tittle is pretty much answer to one of the big mystery in a story about dungeon crawling. I would like to keep it hidden while the anime is still airing if possible.

Avoiding spoilers is a two way road. While the new audience should do their part to avoid spoilers, I'm also trying to do the most I could as someone already finish the story.

"Lord Marcille Donato"

I like this suggestion, much better than my attempt. The elfs have royal, nobility characters and Marcille's hobby in fantasy romance novel could make the tag seem vague at face value. Thank you.

Regarding the chimeras, I suppose having other species tags (tallman, half-foot) next to them would help with distracting spoilers radar. They're not really spell out the plot as much as Marcille's.

Thank you all for the feedback :)

Now to the request part, which always stress me out :<

Akuma Homura doesn't seem like a fair comparison because the implications are much less specific. It implies something sinister, but it's vague. Marcille Donato (Dungeon Lord) is just too specific and meaningful even for someone only just starting the series. The chimera tags are less so.
The comparison to Phos is more appropriate than Homura, since you know from early on that she starts incorporating other bits into herself, and that does have a "non-spoiling" tag to disguise exactly what (who) she incorporates.
I don't care about spoilers myself, but if you're going to bother having a spoilers tag for people to blacklist, it makes sense to not be suggesting those very same spoilers in the search autocomplete.
