Is there a reason ranma-chan isn't considered a gender swap?

Posted under General

Noticed recently that images with the female ranma aren't tagged with genderswap(most anyway). Riderfan brought up the fact that naruko gets the tag is because it's illusion. Then again female rito is also canon like ranma-chan but it gets the genderswap tag.

Honestly, to me a genderswap implies that it's non-canon (except in stuff like Midnight Bliss). If Naruko is a genderswap then so is Ranma-chan, but I'd say neither is one. A genderswap is intrinsically fan-created.

Anyway, yeah I guess I can't help!

While the non-canon qualification isn't a bad idea in theory, we don't seem to be following it at the moment so I'd say it's fine to add genderswap to female Ranma.

Should we decide to specify that genderswap is non-canon sex changes only, we can remove it from the relevant characters at that time, but I think there would be some murky areas (like naruko, as mentioned).
