Is the "believe_in_me" tag necessary?

Posted under Tags

There is a tag called believe in me. It refers to a specific scene in Higurashi no naku koro ni and even has a wiki, but it only has a handful of posts, mostly from 10+ years ago. It's not even formatted in the correct way.

I think that it's a useless tag and should just be deleted. If you wanted to be more specific, you could always use the onikakushi-hen/tsumihoroboshi-hen tags (assuming they're not redundant tags, too).

Would it be alright to remove this tag from every post containing it?

We have a lot of tags referencing a specific scene. frieren_stuck_in_a_mimic_(meme) is a recent one that comes to mind.

To be honest, I proposed that tag because there are sizeable amount of derivative works out of that scene, and it became a meme outside of the Frieren fanbase that it deserve its own tag. On the other hand, I kinda doubt that "believe in me" should have a tag, since it is not as well known outside of the Higurashi fanbase.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure if this scene is famous enough to have a tag. It also lacks any meme potential like other Higurashi moments that have earned their own tag, such as uso da or take it home. Sure, it's an iconic moment of the series, but it wouldn't be the only scene that had a big impact on the community and led to the creation of many fan works.

I think the "take it home" tag could barely qualify as a tag, as several posts with this tag are character holding/carrying other characters they deemed cute, with some haven't even implied that they would "take it home". Meanwhile, "Uso da" is mostly used on the "psycho" mode of Rena or the specific face where she said this word, and it doesn't seems to have as much recognition as other character's quote tags like "I don't have a single regret in my life".

So yeah, I think both tags should be removed.

I waited to see if anyone else had other opinions first but I think enough time has passed. I will delete the believe in me tag. However, about the take it home one... I don't think it's necessarily a pointless tag, but it's currently full of posts that have nothing to do with the actual meaning. If it had only been about images referencing Rena's catchphrase (either fanart of her going "omochikaeri!" or parodies from other series) I think it might have had a reason to exist. Right now... hmm. Anyone agrees that it should be deleted as well?

To be honest, the tag's current name kind of make it vague, since "take it home" can just means character wanted to take someone/something home, not Higurashi reference. IF that's out of the way, then I think it might be worthy enough to keep it, though with a qualifier to specify where it came from.

You have a point. I think it should either be turned into "take it home (higurashi)" or just deleted altogether. What choice would be better in this case?
