Cheetahs are, by definition, cats.

If tags such as cheetah_ears and cheetah_tail are already set to be nuked, I think it would make sense to replace them with their two equivalent cat-related tags. Then comes the nuke for whatever post still has those tags.

I moved over 150 posts to cheetah_girl or cheetah_boy, but there are 3 Gold-only posts that I cannot edit. Still, most posts should be tagged correctly now.

I’ve been wondering about this thread. My previous BUR wasn’t really written like how I intended it to be, so let’s stick to nnt’s BUR: nuking cheetah ears and cheetah tail. I’ll just throw three ideas here.

Option 1: Keeping cheetah ears/tail with posts as they are.
But by nnt’s words, the nuking seems inevitable. And I don’t think keeping empty tags is necessary. If the problem of forum #344350 persists, they’ll just be nuked again. So we go onto…

Option 2: Aliasing cheetah ears/tail to cat ears/tail.
Cheetahs are cats. Their ears differ from a domesticated cat’s, but the tail isn’t vastly different when looking at the posts. In fact, even most cheetah ears posts depict ears more similar to conventional cat ears rather than a cheetah’s. Plus, the cat ears/tail tags are already used for some non-domesticated felines. It could make tagging easier.
Around 40 images out there already have both cheetah-related and cat-related tags, plus a few which have cheetah girl with cat ears and/or cat tail but no cheetah feature tags (cheetah boy is less confusing only because it has got a fraction of the posts cheetah girl has).

Option 3: Aliasing cheetah ears/tail to leopard ears/tail.
Cheetah print is aliased to leopard print, so I guess it would be consistent? But having a post tagged cheetah girl/boy with leopard feature tags is a little odd to me.

So… here goes nothing. Might as well try and make option 2 a BUR.

P.S. Oh, funnily enough, after writing this I found forum #126974 from 8 years ago when evazion tried to alias serval ears/tail -> cat ears/tail (which I suppose is similar, consider several serval posts also have cat ears/tail tags) and forum #164415 from 5 years ago when nnt said "cheetah_ears/tail are undistinguishable from cat_ears". What an old dilemma… can we make things easier now?

I would much prefer an alias to leopard ears/leopard tail - big cats tend to have more rounded ears, for one thing.

It’s a nice alternative which crossed my mind. I’m not against it, I just thought it would look odd to have a cheetah girl/boy tagged with leopard features. I was also worried since cheetahs technically aren’t big cats like leopards, but perhaps that’s just being pedantic. A BUR for option 3 is possible. Before making a BUR for it though, I’d like to move some posts with pointed ears from cheetah ears to cat ears, since they don’t look like a cheetah’s or a leopard’s. They’re more conventional cat-like.

The problem here is that these posts look nothing like leopard ears vs cheetah ears vs cat ears. People tag them on cheetah girls no matter what the actual girl and her ears look like.

Oof, now there’s over a hundred cheetah girl/boy posts without animal ears despite showing them, since the cheetah feature tags didn’t imply animal features. Guess I’ll correct those manually.

Which is another reason I wanted to alias cheetah features to other tags… at least they implied animal ears. Similar situation for tail, but in smaller proportions. Anyway, I’m currently adding the generic animal ears and tail tags where needed.

Pulchra Fellini is a case on its own. I’ve searched on the internet and only seen her referenced as a "cat Thiren" and not a cheetah girl, let alone with cheetah features. Plus, most of her posts have her tagged with cat-related stuff, so I think moving all her posts to cat tags is better.

She looks like a serval to me personally especially with the tail which looks nothing like a cheetah post #4102384. Animal ears shouldn't be canon tagged and should be applied visually so I vote moving them into cat_girl unless they have a cheetah print.
