Demoted from platinum?

So I got the Platinum membership quite some time ago. I just got demoted from it.

I understand they removed platinum but I'm just wondering about the question below.

Are platinum users supposed to be demoted to gold or member?

You were given a feedback stating that you were demoted because your account was compromised. Hacked accounts are typically demoted so the people that broke into them can't benefit from the privileges of higher ranks.

I am assuming for now that you are the actual owner of the account.

Make a new account and post it here and I'll give you platinum back. The mod who demoted you should've done that at least.

A bunch of users were demoted for being compromised, but none of them were contacted about why it was done. I just sent a dmail to all of the ones affected with instructions on how to get a replacement account, as I wasn't aware of the mass demotion before.
