Utility of certain FGO Swimsuit umbrella tags?

This comparison doesn't work because Swimsuit Ibuki's horns don't change throughout her ascensions. Speaking of Ibuki though, her hairstyle does change throughout her ascensions, and I would tag the specific ascension if she had her hair in the corresponding hairstyle. This is also how I know when to tag her swimsuit version versus her Saber costume dress even though the share the same horns, because of the hair color and black sclera.

You're not making any sense. You're saying that the hairstyle is a hint to the swimsuit, but you refuse to tag the actual variant from which the hairstyle comes from. If you're saying it's a hint to the swimsuit then you clearly can identify the correct swimsuit.

If I’m searching for her first ascension, I expect to find art of her in her first ascensions red dress. If I’m searching for her swimsuit second ascension, I expect the art to have her in her purple shirt or grey capelet.

I’m not going to tag a post where she’s just wearing her hair ornament with first ascension, just like I’m not tagging a post where she has her swimsuit second ascension’s hairstyle with her swimsuit second ascension, because they’re outfit tags; tags that indicate the clothes on their body.

If those horns are uniquely found in the first ascension skin then yes, that post should be tagged with it. But that post was actually uploaded one day after the creation of baobhan_sith_(swimsuit_pretender)_(fate), and baobhan_sith_(swimsuit_pretender)_(first_ascension)_(fate) was only created another two months after. And other users just don't know any costume aside from the main character name because they don't play the game.

Might have been a small misunderstanding here, I meant why isn’t she tagged with baobhan_sith_(first_ascension)_(fate), not her swimsuit first ascension. Either way, I see what you mean, but most users who tag her regularly would likely not see it that way, and would only tag her as First Ascension if she’s wearing her red dress, since that outfit is what defines that ascension.

Right, I myself don't follow f/go closely so I can't tell the costumes apart at first glance. For baobhan_sith_(first_ascension)_(fate) it's a similar case: the tag was created on 2023-08-05, post #6582747 was uploaded on 2023-08-12, so the uploader probably didn't know the tag existed.
