Also, what do you think about this imply? gold is metal... Do we need this?
(-1) I see no legitimate reason to keep them since this site do not generally use material-related tags for apparel to describe their appearance. Metal hairband has been haphazardly used for any colour of hairbands that appear yellow, orange, white, brown, black or grey.
Perhaps both gold hairband and metal hairband should be deprecated.
Just happened upon this topic while going through my forum backlog. I have a new character to handle, Lupa (Wuthering Waves), who I've been tagging with metal hairband (because it is one, her whole schtick is gladiator armour). What would be the alternative if we remove this, just the colour of it, like grey hairband?

Are you sure? We still have metal tags either aliased away or still in use. Armored boots 18k is still technically a metal tag (antecedent: metal boots). We also have metal collar 7.3k, metal gloves 651, metal chastity cage 446, metal wings 403, metal belt 394, metal bikini 297, metal hair tubes 199, metal wrist cuffs 153, among others. If you wanted this statement to be true, then you would have to do something about the rest of these.
It means that one of two things is true: they're pointless and no one's done anything about the mounting number of them, or it is acceptable to use metal_*
to describe a certain subset of clothing/accessories (and if so, it should be a limited amount, instead of maxing them the same way some people attempt to do for colour tagging). I'm a believer in the latter.
If metal hairband has been "haphazardly used", then I don't support a deprecation unless a) there has been a clear effort to garden the tag to prevent its misusage including edits to the wiki if needed, and b) it's an issue of the tag being ambiguous in its nature rather than lack of care from taggers.

Mate to be frank—what are you talking about? Denim, latex, spandex, lace? Sure we don't tag like, cotton blends or whatever, but that's the default. I wouldn't consider metallic hairbands a default.
If by apparel you mean "accessories" which is not the definition of the word, then you're maybe onto something but that's not necessarily true either. We have tags like gold bracelet.

Am I the only one who is hazy on the metal hairband?
If this tag is used in conjunction with the color hairband, then the gold hairband would not be necessary.
gold hairband→metal hairband + yellow hairband
Gold bikini refers to the color, not the material.
Necklace has gold and silver tags.
So this is the first time I feel this contradiction.
And I don't know the difference between metal gloves and gauntlets.
