Alias: Dragon Quest Hero/Heroine

Posted under General

According to the Japanese manual for the Playstation remake, the hero and heroine of Dragon Quest IV are named Solo and Sofia, respectively. I'm a bit iffy on suggesting an alias though, since I don't have a copy of the manual myself and I can't find any sources besides Wikipedia that state this (though my Google skills could just be weak on that account).

Also, I noticed that the Roto tag covers both the male and female versions of the Dragon Quest III Hero. Should we make a roto_(female) tag (or roto_(male), since there are more images of the female Roto than the male one) to separate them? Or are there too few images of the male Roto for it to be worth it (about 15 of 88 images in the Roto tag depict the character as male)?

Are those default names for the DQ4 hero/heroine from the Japanese version, or something created for the English translation?

And yes, I'd favor splitting the male and female versions of Roto from DQ3.

The characters on page 7 of the linked manual, right? I don't see where (on that page at least) it uses those names and I don't feel like reading the whole thing to find it. Can't search it either.

Anyone else see it?

If they are there, then yeah we can uses solo_(dq4) and sofia_(dq4) I guess.

I guess qualifying at least the male wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe both.

I don't see it in the manual, either. I just see ๅ‹‡่€… which is the same generic tag used on Pixiv and everywhere else.

For Roto (which I think should actually be Loto, but that's a different topic altogether), the only real difference between the two is one has breasts and the other doesn't. They even shared the same sprite in the original game. While I'm all for them becoming separate tags, it seems somewhat odd that genderswap characters like senou_natsuru would use a single tag for male and female variations, but this wouldn't. Those characters usually at least get a change of clothes and a completely alternate hair style. Roto doesn't even get that much.
