What to do with Clothes Only and Clothes Focus?

Posted under Tags

BUR #45417 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

create alias clothes_only -> clothes_focus

So I was making a rhetorical comment in topic #32888 about the clothes only tag, which until now, to my knowledge, was the only real tag for finding posts primarily focused on clothes themselves with no characters really in them. I had always been weirded out by the clothes only tag, because all our other tags for this concept tend to be "x focus", to the point of attempting this very alias...But stopped, because the more I thought about it, the more I got concerned about things like post #9613619 diluting things, which kinda kills the whole point of the tag to find clothes with no characters in them.

But now clothes focus is a tag that exists, and sure enough there's post #9613619 in there. So now we have two tags for this concept. What do we do with them?

This first BUR assumes that we'd prefer the clothes focus name, and that with it clothes only is useless. Therefore, they should be aliased.

BUR #45418 has been rejected.

mass update clothes_focus no_humans -> clothes_only
nuke clothes_focus

This second BUR operates under my chief worry about clothes focus, and assumes clothes only to be the name we ought to be stuck with. As it cannot be cleanly aliased to clothes only the way the other way around can be, I'm using an update + nuke strategy here.

Of course, there is always a third option in that clothes only can implicate clothes focus...But do we really want both tags? I have no idea what we want here. Opinions, please?

A quick thought: What does clothes_only achieve that a clothes_focus no_humans search doesn't? We don't have a scenery_only tag.

Back in topic #28078 I was against allowing some human presence in still_life posts, but when I think about it again, combining "focus on X" and "no human presence" in one tag does impose a dependency on independent properties, which I'm generally against.

And to that, I got nothing. It's not like humans being present are that big a deal in any other focus post. The worry comes mainly from the fear of dilution of just close-ups on people wearing clothes...which a clothes_focus no_humans search would solve...

In hindsight, I'm probably overthinking shit as I tend to, out of disbelief I might actually get what I want in this case (as clothes focus is a significantly more versatile tag to begin with and I much prefer the name). As for the record, BUR #1 is the one I want to see succeed.
