fatass teto meme tag discussion

Posted under General

fatass teto (meme) is some kind of meme relating to how teto's plush looks fat or something

there are some obviously on topic posts like post #8812662

others seem more dubious: post #8824721 has the plush but it's a posture joke, post #9663259 and post #9493257 (and many other tagged) have some weight relation but don't seem to be very "meme", and idk why post #9504255 is tagged at all

i think a lot of the posts shouldn't have it at minimum, but if you disagree please bring it up

post #8824721, as a continuation of post #8824694, is a direct reference to the meme. More specifically it is a subversion of the meme, in which the artist claims the plushie is not actually fat but simply has poor posture.

While the plushie seems to be the originator of the meme, the meme isn't limited to only depictions of said plushie but refers to Kasane Teto herself being fat (Thus it being named Fatass Teto rather than Fatass Teto plushie or some such.

The meme mainly encompasses the time period from mid-2024 to mid-2025 where a lot of artists started following this trend by drawing Teto being fat, especially compared to Hatsune Miku or other characters (thus where posts like post #9504255, post #9621364, post #9584957 or post #9049152 would fit in).

I think if the qualification for it being tagged as being a meme is simply "teto being drawn plump" (which I'd argue half of these examples aren't even that, just weight conscious or belly) then it's too broad in scope to be a tag tbqh.

At the least, the tag itself should exist since "Fatass Teto" is a real trend that happened where a noticeably large amount of artworks/memes were produced as a part of said trend and they all have a common theme tying them. The problem is what should or should not be tagged with it.

Of course, I don't believe any and all future posts of Teto being fat should be tagged with Fatass Teto (meme) for all perpetuity. I'm looking hard through all the currently tagged posts and trying to determine what more specific criteria can be used for this tag. Yes, technically all these works were likely made as part of that trend. But I can see how some of these are stretching things a bit far and setting a bad precedence for future usage of this tag.

i think there's definitely a trend and a meme here, just it seems a little broad as to what qualifies at the moment

This clarifies it. The meme (i.e posts with the plushie or "fatass" written somewhere) definitely qualifies for the tag. The trend is more ambiguous. I do feel that it should be included somehow but I wouldn't be against cleaning it up.
