Hokay. So. Artoria Pendragon big scary scary scary big mess scary horrifying. Scary.
There are approximately 3 different major archetypes of artorias (each conveniently with their own dedicated artist in fgo!):
- seibas (Saber, Saber Alter, Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Archer), Master Artoria, Saber Lion, Saber Lily, Artoria Caster, etc)
- servant universe (Mysterious Heroine X, Mysterious Heroine X Alter, Mysterious Heroine XX, Mysterious Heroine XX Alter)
- The Tits (Artoria Pendragon (Lancer), Artoria Pendragon (Lancer Alter), Lion King (Lancer) Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler))
If someone hypothetically wanted to search for all servant universe altrias together, they could use Mysterious_Heroine_X*_(fate). If someone hypothetically wanted to search for the classic Seiba variants, they could get pretty good success just by searching for Artoria Pendragon (fate) by itself. This just leaves the Rhongomyniad quartet.
You can currently search for 3/4 of them with Artoria_Pendragon_(Lancer*)_(fate), since Lion King (Lancer) implies Artoria Pendragon (Lancer). This just leaves Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler), who is unimplicated to the base Lancer tag. I guess there's some argument to keeping the two separate since she herself claims some level of separation, but the same could be said of Lion King who is already implied to her anyways. So I guess my solution is something like uhhh
- Artoria Pendragon
- Artoria Pendragon (Adult)
- Artoria Pendragon (Lancer)
- Lancer costumes / ascensions / etc
- Artoria Pendragon (Lancer Alter)
- Lalter costumes / ascensions / etc
- Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler)
- Swimsuit ascensions / costumes / etc
With Lion King (Lancer) either left under the Lancer tag or moved up a level to the Adult sub-umbrella. Of course we could nix the Adult subrella (how none of the cool kids are abbreviating "sub-umbrella") meaning we could have the status quo of
- Artoria Pendragon
- Artoria Pendragon (Lancer)
- Lancer costumes / ascensions / etc
- Lion King (Lancer)
- Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler)
- Swimsuit costumes / ascensions / etc
- Artoria Pendragon (Lancer Alter)
- Lalter costumes / ascensions / etc
Of course no matter how we choose to handle merging these tags we're going to end up with the (apparently rephrensible) quadruple implication, since unfortunately Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler) (First Ascension) and Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler) (Third Ascension) share a hairstyle so sometimes you can tell it's Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit Ruler) without being a specific ascension, so even if we shove that under lancer then we'd still have Artoria Umbrella <- Artoria Lancer <- Artoria Ruler <- Ruler Ascension.
Is there maybe a merit to also having a Mysterious Heroine umbrella tag? Maybe, but probably not. All four versions are distinct enough that I think keeping them separate is fine, and if someone did want to search all of them a one-tag wildcard search is available to them, as opposed to this which currently requires two tags at minimum (Artoria_Pendragon_(Lancer*)_(fate) or Artoria_Pendragon_(Swimsuit_Ruler)_(fate)) for finding all art of big titty seiba.
tl;dr currently the tags for swimsuit ruler artoria and lancer artoria are separate from each other and that's not necessarily ideal, but any solution would require quadruple implication and i dont think we're getting rid of the top-level artoria pendragon tag any time soon
