You don't actually need to post anything to be in consideration for an upgrade to Builder; it is given to those who make general contributions to the site, including, but not limited to, adding appropriate tags to posts (and removing inappropriate tags), translating, and contributing to discussions (although uploading high-quality artworks always helps). I can't give you any hard numbers for what will get you upgraded to Builder, unlike with Contributor upgrades, although it typically takes thousands, if not tens of thousands, of good tag edits and/or thousands of good note edits before I see someone get a Builder upgrade.
There is no exact number of posts you need to have approved before you can be upgraded to Contributor; from about:upload limits, you should have around 500-750 posts and a recent deletion ratio of around 5% or less.
Upgrades do not happen automatically; every now and then a mod or admin will upgrade the accounts of exceptional users.
If your focus is uploading posts, I suggest improving your deletion ratio. See status:active approver:any to see what tends to get approved, and you can also check out topic #24186. A high deletion ratio will make it less likely for you to get your account upgraded to either Builder or Contributor.

Have you seen topic #33823? There's a few tasks listed there that take into account the two-tag search limit for basic Members.

It's just the fact that I want to get rid of the whole "need a gold account to see this picture" thing

I'm new at this and just wanted to help out and get an upgrade so again I'm sorry if I am being dumb for like asking these questions and stuff
